Growing Demand for Healthy Buildings in Asia

The healthy building movement has come a long way since the founding of the Center for Active Design ten years ago and has accelerated considerably due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In those ten years, the Fitwel Standard has been shown to be scalable, globally relevant, inclusive, and adaptable to a wide range of property types and locations, including Asia. Since Fitwel was first introduced to Asia in 2018, the number of certifications in the region has grown steadily, thanks to an ever-growing group of Champions, Providers, Partners, and Ambassadors who are leading the global healthy building movement.

To date, there are more than 210 Fitwel Ambassadors representing 12 countries across the Asian continent, including Chia Ming Huang, the Founder of Green Matrix Consulting Company, who introduced Fitwel to the Taiwan market and will be in attendance at this year’s PERE Asia Summit. There are also 44 Fitwel-certified healthy buildings across Asia and a growing number of local partners and resources that we’ve rounded up below.
