Project: Palisades, Central Perimeter, Atlanta, GA

Palisades, a four-building, 640,000 square foot office project in Atlanta's Central Perimeter submarket owned by Atlanta Property Group, takes pride in being one of the most employee-centric office properties in the Southeast of the US. The set of healthy buildings are part of a mixed-use development that includes apartments as well as 15,000 square feet of on-site restaurants and convenience retail, adding to the rapidly expanding walkable amenity base in the surrounding area. This recognition adds to Fitwel Provider Sustainable Investment Group’s (SIG) well-deserved track record of accolades.

What Fitwel strategies did you use to achieve your healthy building goals?
JM:
We focused primarily on location, open space, exterior landscaping maintenance, and site safety. Located in a highly walkable neighborhood, it provides easy access to amenities such as local shops and restaurants. The campus is also within walking distance of public transportation. To foster a sense of community, intimate courtyard seating arrangements were created in the empty spaces between buildings to allow employees to connect and gather outside. Wellness-focused programming and amenities, such as free yoga classes, walking trails, and educational seminars, help tenants deepen their shared values.

How does Building Health align with the mission and values of SIG?
JM: At SIG we have found our clients’ focus on comfort and health has increased significantly. Utilizing Fitwel as a launching pad to improve and showcase their efforts, these spaces are optimizing well-being. Since 2018 we have been promoting and certifying spaces through Fitwel, and we are honored to be awarded among our client’s high achievements.

The Palisades project is a Fitwel Commercial Site project with Atlanta Property Group. The project was able to achieve a 2-star rating through its use of indoor and outdoor spaces, shared amenities, and access to healthy foods. The property consisted of four interconnected buildings which focus on friendly pedestrian access and community engagement. The buildings are LEED certified to round out a holistic campus approach to health, wellness, and sustainability. This project stands as a testament to our commitment to better the built environment. Our work at SIG, in partnership with forward-thinking organizations, continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in creating health-focused and sustainable living spaces.

This recognition demonstrates our dedication to the health of our tenants, employees, and community. Palisades' goal is to create a workplace for businesses that want to fulfill ESG commitments, attract climate-conscious employees, and do the right thing for the environment by operating in a lower carbon space. Each of Palisades' four buildings promotes a healthy work environment and brings together a thriving community of companies that want to make a difference. In addition, Atlanta Property Group, the building's owner, has made significant investments in initiatives to reduce the building's carbon footprint, including the installation of a 1-megawatt solar plant called The Plant at Palisades. We are excited to collaborate with Fitwel to validate and expand our health-promoting initiatives both on-site and in the community.
